IRCC status
IRCC lists TCF Canada (Test de connaissance du français) among approved French tests for Express Entry, alongside TEF Canada. Approved English tests are CELPIP-General, IELTS General Training and PTE Core.
IRCC states results must be less than 2 years old at profile completion and at application submission.
IRCC says to schedule the test with an agency approved by IRCC and pay the costs. It provides score-to-NCLC conversion tables for TEF and TCF.
Minimum levels by program (NCLC)
As IRCC states on the language page:
- Federal Skilled Worker: NCLC 7 in all four abilities (first official language); NCLC 5 (second official language).
- Federal Skilled Trades: speaking and listening NCLC 5; reading and writing NCLC 4.
- Canadian Experience Class: NCLC 7 for TEER 0 or 1; NCLC 5 for TEER 2 or 3.
