Drafted from the official pages listed under Sources, last read on 25 October 2026. Rules, fees and thresholds change: check the official page before you act. This is not legal advice and does not guarantee any outcome.

IRCC status

IRCC states: 'You must take the CELPIP-General test.' Results must be less than 2 years old at profile completion and at application.

Format

CELPIP-General covers four skills. Published times:

  • Listening: 46-55 minutes, 6 parts.
  • Reading: 43-56 minutes, 4 parts.
  • Writing: 53 minutes, 2 tasks.
  • Speaking: 15 minutes, 8 tasks.

Scoring and validity

Each component gets a CELPIP level from 0 to 12 (or NA). Levels map to CLB; for example CELPIP 7 corresponds to CLB 7. Scores are valid for two years from the date the score report is issued (as CELPIP states).

The CELPIP site states the test is completed in one sitting in 3 hours or less, with results in 2-4 days.

Accessibility

Test takers who need accommodations submit a Special Accommodations Request Form. Paragon must pre-approve all accommodations.

What to check on the official page

The fee was not on the pages fetched; see 'Find a CELPIP Test Date' and the Guidebook for Test Takers.
